Many a times you need to change/modify an RDP port for your Windows system, you can do so easily just by performing certain registry modifications. You will have to use Regedit, a software tool for finding, editing your computer’s Windows Registry.
You can use Regedit software which is available with your Windows OS to launch Regedit software you need to click “Start > Run”. Now, type regedit in the Run box. A Windows will appear and you are directed to Registry Editor window.

Now once you are in Registry Editor follow following steps for modifying RDP port.
- Locate and then click the following registry subkey:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\TerminalServer\WinStations\RDP-Tcp\PortNumber
- On the “Edit” menu, click “Modify” and then click “Decimal”.
- Enter the new port number, and then click “OK”.
That’s all you have successfully modified RDP port for your system by modifying your registry through regedit command.
